Date: Fri, 17 Dec 2004 18:06:20 -0600 (CST) From: Anagh Lal Subject: A useful Excel graphs trick For your thesis or reports you are likely to have many charts and getting them, all, with the correct font size, empty background, correct labeling of the vertical and horizontal axes, etc. is tough and cumbersome. Wouldn't it be nice to have a template graph ready for you!! You would then apply this template whenever you start making a graph. Half or more of your formatting task will be done, for you, at once. We describe below how you can create such a template. First create a graph, set its title font size, legend font size, remove the grid lines in the background, etc. (see sample). Then, save this chart as a "custom chart type" to be applied to other charts you will be generating in the future. To do so, follow the steps: 1. Click on the chart you want to save as a custom chart type. 2. On the Chart menu, click on Chart Type. 3. On the Custom Types tab, click on User-defined. 4. Click on Add. 5. In the Name box, type a name. If you want to add a description, type it in the Description box. 6. Click on OK. So next time you create a graph, you can reuse this template. In "chart type", you should go and select "Custom Types" and then "user-defined" and then your defined chart type. Voila! 0 Hope this helps! Anagh.
