CSCE 486/488: Professional Development
Homework 4, Spring 2010
(Project Proposal +
Mini-project)

Your team will prepare a written proposal about the project that the team
intends to work on for CSCE487/489-CS/CE Senior Design in Fall
2010. The proposal should contain:
- [1-page why]
An introduction to the general field of and motivations for the proposed
project focus.
- [1-page what]
A description of the projected functionalities, main components, and
physical appearance of the final product.
- [2-pages how]
A description of the proposed approaches (designs, algorithms, hardware
needed, etc) to realizing the projected functionalities.
- [1-page experience]
Justification of why the proposed project, along with the approaches to
accomplish it, is feasible for your team
- [1-page
mini-project] Identify one key component or a scaled-down version of
the proposed project that can be experimented on as an initial
feasibility study and the term project for this CSCE486/488 class.
- Oral reports on all
proposals for the CSCE 487/489 project and demos on all mini-projects
will be scheduled in the early part of the Dead Week (last week of April)
as Homework 5 (refer to the class web page for the schedule).
In writing your report follow the
best practices you have learned in previous courses for technical writing. The
class web page under the heading, "Useful Info" has several links
that may be helpful to you.
You must prepare a ppt presentation of your proposal, one for each team, to be
given to the Class during the lecture hour on Monday, March 1, 2010.
Your proposal and ppt presentation, one for each
team, should be submitted through the handin and via
email to the instructors and TA by midnight on Monday, March 1, 2010.
